The monster house

so here i was ...doing my favorite thing ...watching animation movies :) yeah i am a sucker for them!! i was watching this film called `monster house`on Star Movies. the film is about a house which turns into a monster house after a real fat lady named Constance accidentally get buried in cement when the house was under construction. the mortal remains of Constance hardens into skeleton under the cement but her ghost remain to haunt all the kids who come near the house. you see, when she was alive she was ridiculed by kids who used to throw stones at here for she was so fat .so after she dies and turns her house into a monster house she avenges the wrongs done to her by eating up kids who come near the house!!

what i liked in the film was Mr Nebbercracker and the self less love he had for Constance. he falls in love with some one who is treated as an abomination by the society . he takes her away with her, builds a house for her,even makes a shrine for her after her death and guards her fiercely by warding off kids even after her death when she turns his house in to a monster house!!!!!! he comes back from hospital after recovering from an injury, and cajoles her to behave and tries to bring her into senses...awwww that was cute and down right romantic. now who wouldn't want such a sweet ,loving,caring husband who would bear with you even when you become ,as Mr Nebbercracker puts it, `a bad girl`! such pristine love!!!!!!:)

HAPPIEST DAY........

So I went to this party of one of my colleagues from my office. It was his birthday party actually.  The cake was there and so were the usual frills associated with the birthday celebrations. I was enjoying the celebrations until one of my friends asked him a very mundane and common question `So, tell us about the  happiest day of your life`. 

The answer given by him was lost to me because I wasn’t listening. The regular question thrown in by a regular guy in a regular party let me to think……what was my happiest day in life? Was it the fact that I was a very good student in my academic life and I topped the honour list in school and college…..no that was not the happiest day in my life. It was quite an achievement but not the happiest day. Was it the fact that I was offered placement by three renowned  companies at once? No ……that wasn’t either. It was a huge relief and a pleasant surprise but not the happiest moment . My first car?..... nope……..the glee that I felt when I laid my eyes on the beautiful epitome of love TAJ MAHAL? Nooo that wasn’t either…my promotions? Those gourmet meals? The exotic spas? The tours with family? My first kiss? No no no no and no again!!!!!!!!!!!

This was the time when I realized that `my happiest day in life` phase wasn’t there  yet…it is yet to arrive ,yet to happen yet to be felt and remembered for the rest of my life and quoted with glee and emotions in parties when someone asks …`so tell us about  the happiest day in your life?`

So here I am hoping hopelessly that the happiest day in my life will arrive sooner than I thought and it will just not happen but will stay on and on and on ………forever……

Green Thumb

I have been always been fond of gardens. My mother lovingly tells me that as a toddler I was really loved by many. I was cute and a favourite among all.I never crawled on all fours like regular babies because there was always some one to carry me in their arms!!!!! I learnt to walk straight away!!!! I  found it to be a bit of exaggeration though.
Since I was always so pampered and didnot have much contact with mother earth, I grew up to be a kindda weak child. I was very prone to cold and cough.I was taken to many hospitals and specialists. But no amount of medication helped until one fine day one child specialist asked my father to bury me neck deep in sand!!!!The touch of elements of nature would heal me ,they were informed.
So my father started to do gardening and ensured I was there to o digging dirt with him......that is how I was introduced to gardening. Ages passed and with it grew my love for flowers, shrubs ,bushes and every thing green. However this passion took a back seat when I was in college and further faded away into oblivion when I too ,like zilloins of teenagers, joined the rat race of job and carrer.

But then as I established my self and reached a comfortable stage professionally I happened to visit a garden in Jodhpur , Rajasthan ,one of the most arid places on earth . The beautiful spring blooms and the lush green grass re- kindled my old passion. So I again started to do gardening. But the harsh climate was`t right for my plants.Summers were too harsh and the rains were scanty. But this time I didn't stop from pursuing my love.Then I re located to the foot hills of the mighty Himalayas .The moist soil and perfect balance of temperature set the ideal condition for my little green friends to bloom  and display their grandeur in full . here they are....in full bloom....

Thats what the french call the water....Latin name aqua and Greek hudor....call it what you want to ,water will remain what it is...one of the five basic elements of which we are made and something you cant do without.....these thoughts were swimming in my mind when i went dipped myself in the majestic pol of a hotel in Jaiselmer this weekend.. gentle ripples that swept all over me soothed not just my body but also my soul. No doubt for ages all great civilisations like Greeks,Romans,Incas worshiped water in some form or the other. In fact in Rigveda it is said

"Ganga Cha Yamuna Chaiva Godavari Saraswati,
Narmada Sindhu Kaveri Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru" 

meaning, `In this water, I invoke the presence of divine waters from the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, Godavari, Saraswati, Narmada, Sindhu and Kaveri. These rivers are considered as goddesses and I pray to them for considering me for their blessings.`The river Ganga, as the mythology goes used to live in the heaven with the gods. King Bhagirath and his ancestors prayed for her to make the earth her abode as this was the price they had to pay as penance for disturbing the meditating sage Kapil. Ganga finally obliged and cascaded from her heavenly abode above. But such was the might of the river that she started flooding earth.Lord Shiva had to be beckoned to save the humble mortals ,he obliged and it is said that he contained ganges on his matted locks!!!! Stories like the one written above are aplenty,not just in our country but in all other nations. Our ancestors knew the importance of water and immortalised it in many interesting stories all of which depict water as an immortal goddess. So next time you are lazing around in a pool in that four way stretch ADIDAS or a Nike swim suit,think of the amazing healing properties of water and even more amazing tales that has been spun around it!!!
